White let out a loud bark from the den, signalling that it was ready. White nudged the last fur into place with her nose and sat, waiting for the two wolves to show up.
The dark blue fur on top had been cleaned only a few sunrises before, as it was supposed to be what Silver and the rest of the hunt would wrap their meat in to store it when they got back. White had reason to believe that this cause was more worthy of the fur. It was extra soft and well worn. It had been the favorite fur of Star and Slayer when they were tiny puppies. They would soon be receiving their own dens and White feared the two would argue nonstop until one of them surrendered the fur to the other. She also feared that Star would win.
White shook her head, bringing her back to the present. As she looked out, she saw the white and yellow wolf leading the blue and white wolf toward the den. The one known as Val seemed to cringe with every step, so White dashed out to meet them.
"Val, young one, what happened?" White asked. Seeing the expression on the youthful wolf answered the question. "Asked and answered. You just need some rest, young one," White said with a smile of sympathy and maternal instincts.

"Mother?" Star Wind asked, running over to White, Prayer and Val. She smiled at White then looked at Prayer and Val. "Who are they?" she asked.
[Do you want me to play then both?]

[sure!]
White looked up and saw the purple and green wolf running towards her.
"Star, my daughter!" White said happily. She nudged her daughter forward.
"This wolf," she said, motioning toward the white and yellow wolf, "is Prayer, our newest pack member. And this wolf is Val, a wandering wolf Prayer and I found starving and exhausted abou three days in from the edge of the territory. She'll be staying here for a bit until she gets her strength back up. I made it clear that she is welcome to stay, but I don't know if she wants to." The last sentence was a whisper in Star's ear.
"So, my daughter, where have you been?" she asked curiously.

Prayer bowed twords Star Wind then smiled at White. "Pleasure to meet you, Star" she said.
Star looked at White. "I was with Slayer but I lost him. So I came back to the pack and...here I am" she replied.

White smiled and rolled her eyes.
"No one can keep track of your brother. He is almost as slippery as you!" she chuckled. "Anyway, I'm sure he'll make his way home soon. Did you happen to run into your father while you were out?"
White cocked her head to her daughter as her ears twitched. She glanced at the non-member before looking back at her daughter with a smile.
"Oh, and Star? Prayer is a pup-sitter now that she has joined. Prayer, my daughter is the Head Spy and the Beta Female," White explained proudly.

Val sat on her haunches behind prayer, half listening to the conversation. The other half of her was fighting to stay awake. Every now and then her head would start sinking, and she'd have to catch herself. It looked rather funny, really, though she didn't think much of it at the time. The forms before her were drifting in and out of focus while she watched them through half closed eyes. Now that she'd eaten, there wasn't much to drive her body on, and her fatigue was finally catching up.
She tried to stifle an oncoming yawn, but instead it came out sounding like she'd swallowed a bug. Ducking her head slightly, embaressed, she hoped that they hadn't heard that.
(Sorry, my brain isn't working right at the moment.)

White's ears picked up the smallest sound. Turning her attention from the two females in front of her, she glanced at their guest, who was falling asleep. She smiled softly as she watched the battle to stay awake, and sat on her haunches. She realized that the conversation going on amoungst the three of them was probably not helping young Val to get to sleep. She smiled and turned back to her daughter and Prayer.
"Shall we head for your den, maybe, Prayer?" she whispered, shooting a darting glance toward the tired Val, hoping the other two understood what she meant.

"Sure. Let's go" Prayer said smiling then began to walk.
Star looked at White. "Why would we go to her den? She asked.

White smiled once again and looked over her shoulder at Val.
"Val, when you wake up, you may come find us at the den in the direction of the sunset from here," White said to the sleepy one. She then turned and looked at her daughter. "I believe we were keeping our young guest up with our chatter," she explained with a chuckle. She broke out into a faster walk before lunging into a run. She laughed hartily(sp?) and wagged her tail, leaving the younger wolves in the dust behind her.
"Come on, you two! I'm getting to be too old for this! Star, your supposed to be fast, since you are the Head Spy!"

"I am fast!" Star barked and ran along side her mother. Prayer smiled then looked behind her and ran after White and Star.
