It was a nice day, Halo noted as he stood atop the grassy noll. The blue sky was nowhere to be seen, hidden behind dark gray clouds, and the scent of rain drifted in the wind. The grass was a deep rich green, due to all of the recent rain, and even small tentrils of fog drifted across the emrald fields. These were his favorite types of days.
Yawning, he sunk down onto his stomach, enjoying the cold dew that soaked through to his chest and belly. He'd been traveling for a long time, and his feet and legs had grown extremely sore. Even his ears showed signs of his fatigue as they lazily drooped backward. THe thought crossed his mind that maybe he should walk just a little further, but he quickly brushed it aside. He liked it where he was, so he'd stay here until he was rested, or someone made him move.
Then, he rolled onto his back. Mud and water soaked onto his back now, making odd slurping noises when he moved. Despite his tiredness, he let out a small laugh. Not loud enough to alert unwanted company, but not silent either. Slowly, his eyes closed, and he felt hiself slipping into a half-sleep.....

The scent of rain and wet earth filled the nostrils of the "drunken" wolf as he swaggered about the green fields. Sure, it wasn't the real ocean, but from a distance, it could pass as an emerald sea. Jack continued his unsteady walk until he spotted a form on the top a hill. In his boredness, he decided to go bother the creature.
A short walk of weird footfall and Jack had reached the other wolf. A male wolf that was, for some reason beyond him, lying on his back in the mud. Dark brown eyes stared at the wolf, waiting for movement of some kind other than breathing. A small wind brought the grass swaying around him too close for comfort.
Boredly, Jack poked the wolf on the nose, just to see what his reaction would be. Maybe he could get a laugh out of it? He breathed in silently and fell unsteadily to ground next to the head of the male.

It took Halo a few moments to find his way back to the waking world. By the time he became aware of the world around him, he found a big colorful wolf colapsed before him, a male by his scent. "Ghaaahhh!" He yelled, jumping back. His hair stood on end and his mouth hung partly open. It wasn't that he was afraid, so much as he was startled. Cautiously, he reached out his left fore paw to prod the stranger in the side. "Hey, who are you?" He asked curiously. "And..... what are you doing here?" As he waited for an answer, he stood rigidly, prepared to bolt if this wolf should start some trouble.
( 'tis so short. ^^ )

Jack chuckled softly as the male jumped up. A small smile spread across his maw as he stated," Jack , Cap'n Jack." Why was he here? " And I be here for no particular reason, mate. What be your name? And you can relaxe."
There seemed to be something off about the wolf, although he couldn't pin it. Hopefully,he wasn't some deranged lunatic that would spaz on him in a moment. What ever it was, it kept Jack ready for anything.

Halo allowed himself to relax a bit, the wolf didn't seem to mean any harm, but he'd only just met him. After a moments hesitation, he finally opened his mouth to speak. "Well, Captin Jack" He said, the beggining of a grin showing on his face. "My name's Halo, and I guess I don't have much of a reason for being here either."
Yawning, he lowered the front half of his body and arched his back. A moment later, he stood back up and streched his back legs, too, before settling onto his haunches. The damp air clung to his fur, making it heavy and cold, but it kept the mud on his back and side from drying out and crusting up. "Do you come from a pack around here?" Halo asked curiously. He didn't have the scent of a pack, but with the heavy fog it was hard to tell.

Jack shook his head slightly, and said, "No. I had no idea there was even a pack 'round these parts." The fog remided him of the ocean and he smiled. Sitting down slowly, he looked at Halo. Something about him still seemed off.
"If you don't mind me asking, mate, why does something about you seem different?" His face showed true wonder and he waited patiently for Halo to answer him. It was a weird and personal question, but he had to know.

Halo just stared back, slightly cunfused. "Different..." he murmered quietly, staring at the grass between his forepaws. Suddenly he looked back up, staring straight at Jack, "'Cause I'm diffrent of course." he replied, with a giant grin, as if he'd just solved the worlds greatest mystery.
Satisfied that he'd answered the question, he turned his head, and began scratching an itch just below his right ear.

He stared at the other wolf. "alrighty then, mate. So..." and awkaward silence filled the moment as Jack tried to come up with something to say. "Where do you hail from?" 'Twas a random question, but it was something.
Jack looked intensely, studying Halo, trying to pin what was off about him. Maybe he could figure it out...
